Dear all,
Does anyone know the origin of these or how they were given out?
It's interesting that the cover bears the Royal Standard, the White Ensign, the Union Jack and the Red Cross.
I have often thought that they might be connected with the Royal Hospital Ship, the "Princess of Wales".
Trooper Webster was wounded at Senekal on 29th May 1900 but the date he has inscribed in the front is 28th February 1900. The "Princess of Wales" was also used as a floating hospital off Cape Town.
Does anyone else have named examples that might help with the research?
Justin
