I'm posting this for his great-grandson, and below is the basic information I've found online about Harry Spackman. Any additional info would be welcome.

....He was born at the South Kensington Museum, London, in 1862, and joined the R.A.M.C. at the age of 16.

....Prior to the ABW he was at the R.A.M.C. depot at Aldershot, and was assigned to No. 3 Field Hospital in South Africa.

....He may have been back in England in 1906 - "The wife of Lt Spackman, RAMC, Netley Hospital, died on Tuesday 10/04/1906 at the Royal South Hants + Southampton Hospital where she was under treatment for cancer. The funeral will take place at Netley Hospital on Saturday 14/04/1906."

....In May 1909, Quartermaster and Honorary Lieutenant H. Spackman reported from Bloemfontein on the first Annual Meeting of the Royal Army Medical Corps Rifle Club at the School of Musketry Range, Tempe, the report appearing in the Journal of the Royal Army Medical Corps News, July 1909.

....He was promoted to honorary captain on the 4th October 1909.

....During the Great War he was principally stationed at Mantorte, near Abbeville, and was promoted from Major to the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel for his services. In March, 1918, he took over the medical stores at Northampton, until he retired from the R.A.M.C. on the 12th of March 1920.

....He died at Exmouth on the 17th of January 1937.

His children were born at Aldershot, Dublin, Gibraltar, Longford (Ireland), and Maryhill (Glasgow), so he moved around a lot.
