I consider myself very fortunate to have become the custodian of the medal to John Rew of Robert's Horse. Rew was one of only 3 civilians employed in the regiment, who were, according to the medal roll, "Volunteers attached by Order of (Lord Roberts) F.M. C in C"
Rew has an interesting story which, once the research has been done, will be posted here. His medal is engraved in officer-style insinuating that he was of equivalent rank to an Officer. The medal came in a lovely small frame and is named to Mr. J. Rew, Robert's Horse
Regards
Rory
