I just received an old book entitled "The Natal Campaign" which is detailed in the events. I have the book because it mentions Major Miller-Wallnutt Gordon Highlanders page 394/395 at Wagon Hill. I previously bought his Gordon Highlanders sword with the Gordons crest in the guard and has a special order 1892p heavy blade rather than the usual claymore type. Only his initials are on the blade.
What I found interesting that was not mentioned was the inscription on the inside front cover being " A. Brodie Scots Guards Ladysmith Dec.1900" The events in the book happened just months before A.Brodie wrote in his book.
Does anyone have information on who A. Brodie is? I am assuming an NCO because his rank was not entered in front of his name. Any help is appreciated.
