Hope this is ok to share, please remove if not. Just wanted to share the latest medal I am the custodian of.
Charles Sylvanus Wheeler was born on 27th November 1873 in Barnes, Surrey, to Sylvanus a gardener and Sarah Wheeler.
He joined the 2nd Dragoon Guards on the 24th July 1892 giving his occupation as cook, from earlier census entries he was by this time living in St.Pancras, London as a grocers assistant.
By the 1901 census he was showing as Serjeant at the Hythe school of musketry in Kent. He died of Enteric fever in Elandsfontein on the 9th April 1902 and is buried in Primrose Cemetery, Johannesburg.
I have traced most of this guy's family and even found a great great nephew of him. For me it's nice to be able to bring so much to a humble state and date clasp medal.
